National Night Out

NNO 2012Annual National Night Out
National Night Out is America's night out against crime!  The introduction of National Night Out began in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. The event is held annually on the first Tuesday of August held at Riverwalk Crossing Park in downtown Jacksonville. The City of Jacksonville along with community partners hosts this exciting annual event to celebrate community and to promote crime prevention. More than 10,000 citizen's attend each year.

2013 Events
The Band of Oz was the featured live musical entertainment for the evening. Also appearing was a local favorite Freeway! The Bicycle Raffle Giveaway for area children is a highlighted event! 95 bicycles were given away this year. More than 250 vendors filled the walkway of the beautiful Riverwalk Park and included food, City, county, military, crafts, activity booths, and much more!

A "Run With The Law" 5K Run & Walk on August 3 had 120+ runners for this inaugural event. Proceeds benefited NC Special Olympics. A fireworks display on the Water took place at sundown! Attendees brought blankets and lawn chairs and enjoyed the show.  Check out this year's winning poster designed by Janiya Parker of New Brige Middle School! Congratulations Janiya!
