Mayors Committee for Persons with DisabilitiesStudent Poetry Contest for 2018

The Onslow Commission for Persons with Disabilities and the City of Jacksonville are

sponsoring their Annual Poster, Poetry, and Essay contest for Onslow County (public and

private) and Base School students to help promote “Disabilities Awareness Week” in May 2018.

Our 2018 Theme:

“See Me for Me!”

Poetry Contest Entry 2017This year’s theme is “See Me for Me!” To us, this means looking beyond someone’s disability
and seeing them as a person and not just a person with a disability. What does it mean to you? Create an Original Poster or Poem or Essay about your own observations or feelings when you meet or see a person with a disability. As you prepare your poster, poem or essay, reflect on your very own community, your friends, loved ones, classmates, and others and express your ideas to help others see beyond the disability and see the person.

Students K-8 Enter today! Enter Today!

Poster, Poetry, or Essay must be an original work.

The deadline to submit an entry is April 23, 2018. Entry Form
