Accessing the Waterways
Jacksonville Parks & Waterways
Jacksonville Parks have a lot to offer and are located throughout the city, near neighborhoods, and along our waterways. Not only do City parks feature amenities like playgrounds, picnic areas, basketball courts, public restrooms, and nature at its finest, several parks also offer easy access to the New River and Wilson Bay. Best of all, Jacksonville Parks are open to Citizens and visitors.

Need to get on the water? Get your boat, kayak, canoe or paddle board and head for the Jacksonville Landing, Northeast Creek Park, or the Riverwalk Marina.

Jacksonville Landing is a public launch on the New River, located at the Buddy Phillips Bridge along Marine Blvd. A green space and walkway is along water, as well as a Welcome Center for visitors. A kayak launch and boat slips that service up to three boats at a time is included at this location.

Northeast Creek Park has beautifully maintained ball fields, a regulation Frisbee Golf Course and a boat launch that can serve two boats at a time.

Riverwalk Marina at Kerr Street Park is another great place to launch kayaks and canoes. The Marina is located in downtown Jacksonville on the shore of the New River at 15 Kerr Street.

The City of Jacksonville purchased the marina in 2015. In August, 2016, the Recreation and Parks Department was awarded a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant for renovation of the boat slips, as well as the addition of an over the water shelter and fishing pier. Once the project is complete, there will also be an enhanced kayak/canoe launch available for public use.

As the marina stands today, the Recreation and Parks Department utilizes a vendor who offers kayaks, including those for fishing, and stand up paddle board rentals, as well as kayak tours on the New River. For more information on these services, please contact Paddle NC at 910 612-3297 or visit PaddleNC.com to book online.
