Request for Public Comment: Draft Public Participation Plan
The Public Participation Plan provides the framework for the public to have reasonable opportunities to be involved. The Plan has been updated to make better use of social media, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to make it easier to use. The Plan's 45-day public comment period is from May 15  to June 30, 2017.

Jacksonville Transit is Looking for Drivers
Jacksonville Transit is looking for qualified professional drivers. Drivers will be employed by private contractor MV Transportation. A CDL license is required, but training is available. If you feel you have a good driving record, can work a flexible schedule, and would enjoy helping others by providing safe transportation, call 910 346-4687 for more information.



Jacksonville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (JUMPO) 
The Jacksonville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (JUMPO) is the regional transportation planning agency for the New River region of southeastern North Carolina. JUMPO is composed of officials from the City of Jacksonville, Onslow County, and area military installations as well as the North Carolina Board of Transportation. JUMPO facilitates a cooperative, comprehensive and continuing transportation planning process that serves as the basis for the expenditure of all federal transportation funds in the area for streets, highways, bridges, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.



Jacksonville Intelligent Transportation System
The Intelligent Transportation System, located in the Center for Public Safety, is a smart system that collects data and makes real-time adjustments to the traffic signal system. The system is capable of many other smart functions including identifying and reporting failures, emergency vehicle preemption and allowing remote adjustments by certified traffic signal technicians and the System Engineer. The Operations Center is equipped with computers, and video displays that allow traffic managers to monitor traffic flow, adjust timings, and take interim corrective action in response to signal malfunctions and 911 emergencies.
