Yard Waste
Collection Schedule
City yard waste is collected on Wednesdays. Holiday schedules may alter this schedule. Holiday schedules are publicized on our online event calendar, printed in "The Daily News," and on G10TV. If you have excessive yard waste, please call 910 938-5338 to schedule removal.

Yard waste includes grass, clippings, and leaves. Please note that sod, dirt, rock and land clearing debris are not collected by the city.

Collection Guidelines
Help us serve you better. Please follow these yard waste collection guidelines:
  • Separate yard waste and household garbage into different containers.
  • Place construction and building materials separate from yard waste.
  • Place grass, leaves, clippings in 20 - 32 gallon containers or in paper bags (do not use plastic).
    • The weight limit per container is 50 pounds.
  • Volume should not exceed 128 cubic feet (4’W x 4’H x 8’L).
    • For large removal assistance, call 910 938-5338.
  • Limbs should be less than 4 feet in length and logs no bigger than 2 feet in diameter and 4 feet in length.
  • Place yard waste less than 3 feet from curb and more than 3 feet from other objects and electric boxes and poles.
  • Do not use city issued 96 gallon refuse container or 64 gallong recycle container for yard waste.
  • Yard waste piles such as limbs and branches that are in excess of one cord (4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet) or 128 cubic feet may be subject to a collection fee. Visit the bulk item page for more information. Contact sanitation at 910 938-5338 for assistance.
