For residential and small business customers,  recycling collection is on the same day as your trash collection day. The City provides a recycling container for your use. Together we can have a clean and green Jacksonville.

Do Not Bag Recyclables
To help us serve you better, please do not place recyclables in bags. Plastic bags are not recyclable, and items larger than 2 feet are not accepted at this time.

Recyclable Plastics - #'s 1 - 5 & 7
  • Soda and water bottles

  • Cooking oil bottles

  • Laundry and dish detergent containers

Non-Recyclable Plastics

  • Grocery and sandwich bags

  • Cups, cutlery, food trays
  • PVC piping and tubing
  • Vinyl siding
  • Styrofoam or polystyrene
  • Plastic medical waste
  • Pastics that have come in contact with petroleum products of hazardous waste such as antifreeze
  • Furniture and larger objects that do not fit in the City recycling container

  • Cans that have contained hazardous waste (oil, insecticide, paint, paint thinner, etc.)

Reminder: According to NC state law, plastic numbers 1 & 2 and aluminum should always be recycled and never discarded in the garbage.
