James Wilson Jr - Silver Alert

June 18, 2018 - Jacksonville Police is asking for the assistance of the public with a possible sighting of missing person James Wilson, Jr.

On Friday evening, a subject that matches the description of Mr. Wilson was seen at a business in Swansboro, Med First, located at 718 W. Corbett Street. The subject sat in the waiting area and left as the business was about to close.

Detectives are asking for anyone with information about the subject in the photo at Med First to contact them at 910-938-5034. 

“If you, or a loved one, are the person in the photo at Med First, please give us a call.” said Captain Weaver, JPD Investigations Supervisor.

On Thursday, May 31, 2018, Jacksonville Police Department issued a Silver Alert for James Wilson, Jr., a 78-year old man who apparently walked away from his home in the Country Club Road area and suffers from dementia.

Mr. Wilson is a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 196 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes. He has family in Georgia, South Carolina and Michigan. We have reached out to family in those areas and sent information to area agencies. 

“During the investigation, we learned that Mr. Wilson may have hitch-hiked in the past. We ask that anyone who may have picked up someone matching Mr. Wilson’s description to please give us a call,” said Captain Weaver, supervisor of the Criminal Investigative Division. “We appreciate the continued assistance from the public in calling in with information, no piece of information is too small and each and every tip is being investigated.”

June 8, 2018 - The investigation to find missing person James Wilson, Jr. continues. On Thursday, May 31, 2018, Jacksonville Police Department issued a Silver Alert for James Wilson, Jr., a 78-year old man who apparently walked away from his home in the Country Club Road area. 

“We have received dozens of tips, primarily phone calls where people believe they may have seen Mr. Wilson. Each and every tip and lead is being investigated” said Captain Ashley Weaver, Investigations Supervisor.

Mr. Wilson suffers from dementia. Mr. Wilson is a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 196 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes.

Residents have been asked to check infrequently used buildings on their property such as storage sheds or buildings not used daily.

“During the investigation, we learned that Mr. Wilson may have hitch-hiked in the past. We ask that anyone who may have picked up someone matching Mr. Wilson’s description to please give us a call,” said Captain Weaver. “We appreciate the continued assistance from the public in calling in with information.”
