[ARCHIVED] Public Notice - Proposed Park & Ride Facility for City of Jacksonville

The City of Jacksonville is seeking to develop a multi-use Park & Ride facility to serve local Marine Corps Bases, Coastal Carolina Community College, businesses, and City wide events. Public preview of the concept plan is available Dec 14 - Jan 13, 2017 at City Hall, 815 New Bridge Street or online at JacksonvilleNC.gov/Transportation.

The Park & Ride facility is proposed along the current bus route that follows Gateway Drive North and South and continues on Recreation Loop (see image on right). An existing bus stop is located near the proposed site on Recreation Loop and adjacent to the parking lot that serves the gymnasium, recreation center, senior center and Recreation and Parks Department building, 100 Recreation Lane.

This project will be funded by the Federal Transportation Administration and the City of Jacksonville. Funding from FTA is through an existing Section 5307 grant. The proposed location is already owned by the City of Jacksonville. The value of the land will be used as the City’s match for the Section 5307 grant.

This notice is for the purpose of determining minimal impact to adjoining parks in accordance with section 4(f) of the US DOT Act of 1966.

For more information about the Park & Ride Facility, please contact the City’s Transportation Services Director at 910 938-5200 or transit@jacksonvillenc.gov.
