Knowing what to do before, during, and after an emergency is a critical part of being prepared and may make all the difference when seconds count. Basic protective actions can be similar for multiple hazards. Knowing your flood zone can help you prevent localized flooding on your property. 

Floodplain Resources are available on the City website and includes preliminary flood map data  as well as resources for prevention and assistance. Should you have any questions regarding the new maps, how the latest data will affect your property, or what the insurance requirements will be, please call the City of Jacksonville’s Planning and Permitting Office at 910 938-5232.  

The City of Jacksonville offers a free services with local emergency messaging due to severe weather events like hurricanes, tornadoes and important government information. Jacksonville Connect is a direct emergency messaging system that is a free service for Citizens. Messages received will include information about hurricanes, fires, loss of power, water outages and other important messages from your local government that directly affect those living in the Jacksonville area.
