JUMPO is composed of officials from the City of Jacksonville, Onslow County, and area military installations as well as the North Carolina Board of Transportation. JUMPO facilitates a cooperative, comprehensive and continuing transportation planning process that serves as the basis for the expenditure of all federal transportation funds in the area for streets, highways, bridges, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
Jacksonville Intelligent Transportation System
The Jacksonville Intelligent Transportation System was created to provide citizens with improved traffic flow on the city’s busiest corridors. This is accomplished by a combination of continuous traffic signal monitoring, a CCTV system, and collection of real time travel condition data. All information is sent to the Traffic Operations Center where Traffic Management staff analyze and optimize traffic signal timing to minimize congestion and maximize flow. City staff also have the ability to make immediate changes to mitigate back-ups caused by road construction, vehicle accidents, and adverse weather conditions.

Mask Mandate Changes
A mask is no longer a mandatory requirement while riding with Jacksonville Transit. However, the CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings.
Due to April 18, 2022 court ruling, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) January 29, 2021 Order requiring masks on public transportation conveyances and at public transportation hubs is no longer in effect. Effective immediately, TSA will not enforce its mask-related security directives.
