Jacksonville Transit is growing and we need your help! A new bus transfer station, named Jacksonville Station, is being constructed at E. Thompson Street and Marine Blvd. This new facility will be a central meeting place for you to transfer between all modes of transportation. As part of our growth, we are looking at potential new bus stops locations and what amenities you might want to see along your commute with Jacksonville Transit.

Jacksonville Station is a new 15,000 square foot multi-modal transportation center that will serve as the operational home for Jacksonville Transit, while also improving efficiency and connectivity among all public transportation agencies that serve our community. This new facility will be constructed at the corner of E. Thompson Street and US 17 Business (Marine Boulevard). All modes of transportation will be served in this new facility with a taxi and Uber/Lyft service area, connections to Greyhound and Amtrak, and serve as a trail head for our Greenways.
City Council awarded a contract in April 2020 to H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc out of Henderson, NC. Construction began in July 2020 and is expected to be complete in July 2021.
Commons Park & Ride
A Park & Ride facility allows commuters and others to leave their vehicle and transfer to a bus or carpool for the remainder of their trip.
The Commons Park & Ride serves as a central parking facility conveniently located near the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Complex, at 100 Recreation Loop. This Park & Ride lot allows quick and easy access to businesses along Western Boulevard. Commuters can board a Jacksonville Transit bus and ride the transit system to various points of interest throughout the City to include the Jacksonville Mall, Coastal Carolina Community College, Marine Corps Bases, movie theaters, restaurants, shopping plazas and residential communities.
The Commons Park & Ride has:
- 187 parking spaces
- 4 shelters
- Bike racks
- Is a well lit facility offering safe access
- Parking is free
Use of the Park & Ride lot is encouraged to reduce traffic congestion throughout the City.
Additionally, the Park & Ride lot can be used as a park and walk option. Citizens are encouraged to park at the Park & Ride lot to access public amenities within close proximity as well as access businesses along Western Boulevard.
