The Jacksonville Tourism Development Authority is charged with promoting tourism within the City. The Authority administers the City occupancy tax charged to overnight guests at Jacksonville lodging facilities which are used to promote tourism and travel.

Law requires the promotion to benefit the Jacksonville lodging facilities. It also benefits capital projects which improve the options for visitors to our community. Those projects have included the Museum of the Marine Plaza, Montford Point Marines Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Corpsmen Memorial, Freedom Fountain, and the Sturgeon City Environmental Education Center. Plans are in place for the Heroes Visitor Center.

Authority Business

The Authority meetings are televised on the Jacksonville-Onslow Government Channel (G10TV) streamed online and where practical, uploaded to the City’s YouTube channel.

A yearly audit is available for public review as is the proposed and adopted budgets for the Authority.
