The City's Neighborhood Housing Initiative is a special opportunity for homebuyers to save and be a part of local revitalization efforts. Qualified buyers can get land for free by occupying the home for 10 years. Down payment assistance is also available to qualified buyers. Home prices start around $150,000 (not including value of lot) and the home are custom built including front porches, upgraded finishing touches, and professionally landscaped yards.
Jacksonville works with local builders who offer affordable custom built homes with energy saving appliances. As part of the Clean and Green Jacksonville Initiative, the City of Jacksonville’s Neighborhood Improvement Services seeks to create a public-private partnership with qualified builders for the development of city-owned vacant lots for the construction of attractive, affordable single-family housing.
